Attachment focused & trauma-informed
Art therapy & counseling for college students
Do you find yourself telling friends (through gritted teeth) “I’m fine, everything is fine!” Or you dread the common nicety “how are you?” because you really want to answer honestly, but you don’t think they’d be able to handle it?
The span of time leaving adolescence in the dust — running, rolling, crawling — doing whatever it takes to prove to the world that you’re not a failure like so-and-so thinks…it’s a tough time.
Common go-to’s are perfectionism (putting on a good show), pretending not to care, stuffing all your problems and feelings (no time!) or maybe a big, fat mix. Early adulthood is prime time to get help before bad habits and unresolved trauma solidify.
Art therapy can be a great way to creatively identify attachment wounds and discover how they’ve been affecting you and your relationships. You don’t exist in a vacuum and insecure attachment is not your fault. No one is 100% secure anyway!
Common reasons that bring emerging adults to art therapy:
Anxiety
School stress/worry
Crippling perfectionism
Dating, break-ups, and relationship concerns
Life transitions (school, career change, divorce, etc.)
Feeling isolated as a result of neurodivergence
Low self-esteem, lack of confidence
Exploring faith/spiritual identity
Exploring racial/ethnic identity
Complicated family dynamics
Emotional regulation
Stress management
Work/life balance
Trauma and PTSD
Grief and Loss
Depression
Self-Harm

Art therapy can provide a creative and non-verbal way to explore complex emotions and experiences, providing a safe space to express and process feelings related to identity, relationships, and future aspirations.
Through the process of creating art, you can gain deeper self-awareness, develop new coping strategies, and build resilience. Whether you're dealing with the stress of college, entering the workforce, or figuring out your path in life, art therapy can help you find clarity and confidence during this transformative time.
